Afternoon Tea
In the heart of Reid’s Palace, we are proud to present a new chapter in the Art of Tea. Under the careful curation of Companhia Portugueza do Chá, we present a unique selection of teas, each one with a journey of discovery. From the delicate notes of our signature Reid’s Blend to the rare and mythical “1000 years Tea,” every infusion is a celebration of craftsmanship, tradition, and the allure of the world’s finest tea gardens.
In Europe, around 1840, afternoon tea became the fashionable social event, two hundred years after the first tea was brought from China.
Afternoon tea at Reid's Palace dates back to the days when the "Union Castle" company ensured regular sea links between England and Madeira, and it is with pride that the tradition is maintained to this day.
Our commitment to sustainability is also reflected in the selection of local products, including fish, meat, dairy products, fruit and vegetables, many of which are sourced from local suppliers. Both coffee and tea are organically certified and come from fair trade partnerships.
