intro
HOTEL CIPRIANI’S STORY BEGAN IN THE 1950s when Giuseppe Cipriani, founder of the famous Harry’s Bar, decided to buy land on Giudecca Island to create a haven that would delight even his most demanding guests.
◖
It opened in 1958 and was an instant success, attracting luminaries from the worlds of entertainment, politics and culture. In 1972, weekly magazine Il Mondo captured the essence of the property, saying: “Hotel Cipriani needs no introduction. Anyone who knows Venice knows that this is the hotel par excellence”.
◖
Living up to its legendary allure is Bar Gabbiano, an iconic meeting place at the heart of the hotel. Thanks to its timeless atmosphere and stunning location, it is coveted destination for both local and international visitors. They come to savour an array of cocktails, wines and appetisers while drinking in the breathtaking views of the lagoon and San Giorgio Island.

Bellini Experience
The Bellini was created by Giuseppe Cipriani, the founder of the hotel, back in 1948 to pay homage to the painter Giovanni Bellini, who had an exhibition at the Doge's Palace at that time. Cipriani was inspired by the pink color of Bellini's paintings, which resembled the color of a peach. The recipe has remained unchanged since then, and to this day, it is the most requested cocktail at the Gabbiano Bar, where it is served only in season using exclusively fresh white peaches.
